EUROPEAN DEAF TENNIS-CHAMPIONSHIP AT “AM ROTHENBAUM” IN HAMBURG

For most tennis players it is the dream to be able to play a tournament at the Rothenbaum in Hamburg. We, the German Deaf Sports Association, have made it and are allowed to host the European Tennis Championship 2020 for the deaf for the first time in the legendary “Rothenbaum” stadium in Hamburg.

From July 24th to August 1st, women, men and young people have to show off their skills.

Tennis Stadium "Am Rothenbaum"

Germany is a tennis nation with many top athletes in deaf sports. The reigning double world champions Urs Breitenberger and Sebastian Schäfer and the reigning mixed world champions Heike Albrecht and Urs Breitenberger are looking forward to exciting competitions in the professional tennis facility “Am Rothenbaum” in Hamburg.

The tennis ball doesn’t know how old I am. The ball does not know whether I am a man or a woman or whether I come from a communist country or not. Sport has always overcome these barriers.
